In our culture, the definition of a good person, is someone who knows their history. By this measure, few people in our land today qualify - our goal is to fix this.
We want to create accessible histories of the Coast Salish peoples. To know our history is to truly know this land - and to know that it is so much greater than it appears… and it already appears to be very great.
We want to write histories of Sashia, the Salish hero, who travelled all over our country, to bring together an army of thousands to fight for freedom against the northern foe. We want to write histories of the apocalypse that fell upon us, when one plague after another emptied our towns, and destroyed our nations. We want to tell you our history’s great love stories, and tragedies, and legends.
Every Salish person has a piece of this grand story - many of these have been collected by academics. We want to bring them together and put them in a form that can be read, shared, and taught to anyone who lives here, and loves this country.
